Well, to comment on your idea that if we don't have an indie or a friend with Tech 2, we might as well go to the dealer, I'm not sure about that. When I originally asked the dealer for a replacement key and remote, he quoted me around $300. That seems a little excessive but of course, I haven't asked yet how much for the shaft and the empty housing and how much to program. There is a well reputed indie mechanic here in Mountain View that apparently does a terrific job with european cars, including Saab. I'll give him a call to see if he might have the Tech 2. If not, I'll have to think about what my options are. I just don't want to give to many clues to the dealer as to what I might want to do so that they can see me coming and wait around the corner if I decide to find the guts myself.
But, I'll think about the comment to have the thing entirely done at the dealer. Still, $300 seems to be a lot for a remote key....
