First of all, if you now drive a Kia, why would you bother reading this board anymore?
If your Kia makes it to 10 years (which his 2002 9-5 has), do you not think it will need a few things done? The few Hyundais + Kias I see that are approaching 10 years old are rusty + falling apart... I have a couple 20 year old Saabs that run great (in addition to a 9-5)...
Ever heard about the premature timing belt failures on Kias (which Kia refuses to honour even when under warranty - "best backed cars in the business" my a$$!)?
Does Kia even make a wagon?
Kias have "5 star safety" and "are outstanding in IIHS crash testing" blah blah blah... but the real life HDLI numbers show a different story... they are improving and are now average (whereas they used to be bottom of the barrel)... Saabs have consistently great HDLI scores, typically 50% safer than the average car.
But back to my first question: this is a problem solving board for Saabs. There are equally busy problem solving bbs for Kias also. Maybe you should go read those before commenting. Here's a direct quote from kia-forums (from a seemingly mechanically knowledgeable Kia owner):
"We all know KIA do not use the best materials."
but of course if all you do is lease for 3 years, none of this matters...
James...
