Code P1181 Posted by Doug W [Email] ![]() ![]() |
My wife noticed the CEL was glowing so I took our '04 Aero Kombi to Advance for a code read and it came back with 1181. The posts here say it's either the MAF or a vacuum leak. More posts say look at the PCV check valve in the Oil Trap Hose. Sure enough, mine's broken too. (Gotta love this site!) I'll order one tonight from eEuro. I packed some butyl rubber around it for now and test drove the car - the engine response is markedly smoother. I noticed staining around the white portion of the valve so I'm guessing its' been like this for a while. The car is a late '04 and has the gray check valves, one on the line from the turbo inlet and the other on the line from the vacuum pump - they're both OK and the car seems to run fine.
My question is - if this is the main vacuum leak will the CEL go out by itself once the fuel trim adjustment stops? Or do I need to take the car to a shop with Tech II to have the code cleared? Also - Where are the 5/32 inch vacuum lines that I hear lots of people replace?
Thanks,
Doug
