GM Extended Warranty for 2007 9-5 - Worth It?

The original warranty on my Dad's 2007 9-5 Aero is about to run its course and he's considering a GM extended warranty from his Saab dealer in AZ. He barely drives the car and still has under 25k miles on it. So far no major issues, but he's had a 9-5 and 9000 die on him in the past so he's thinking an extended warranty is a good idea since he plans to keep the car as long as possible.
Has anyone had experience with GM warranties in the past? Are they worth it? Here's the breakdown of mileage coverage/cost he got from the dealer for a 4-year warranty ($50 deductible, there are slightly cheaper options at $100 but those don't make sense financially as the deductible is per visit):
Miles / Cost
32K / $2525
40K / $2725
48K / $2950
Since he's in AZ it seems most of the things that die on him are hoses and other things that rot/dry out in the heat, and it appears the warranty he's looking at covers such parts. Is there anything in particular he should check to make sure is covered that could die on him?
Any input/feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
