I once bought a GMPP on a two model-year old CPO Suburban. I think I paid about $1600 for 3 years. Later, I complained to GM about the scary, noisy 8.1L piston slapper engine (which is all nonsense hype, IMO), had them do all sorts of diagnostics and cleanings, then as a courtesy they extended my GMPP for another year and some thousands of miles. In the end, I used it for about $1400 of repairs. I guess it was worth it. IIRC, the GMPP program has a good reputation and you get genuine GM service and parts and don't have to deal with adjusters like you would with third-party warranties.
GMPP on a SAAB? Who knows?
