I didn't realize it until I saw one on the road, but Mazda 6 was available as a large hatch not unlike the 9000! Though, much like GM, they have discontinued that + now it is only a sedan (not even wagon I don't think)... are these choices sales driven? or perceived popularity driven? admittedly, I thought of the large hatch segment as: might as well be a wagon, but I now get that there is a difference... maybe the popularity isn't there? though to be fair to GM, they did let Opel make a large hatchback "9-5"... they just did not get saab...
note also the 5 spoke propeller wheels on this Mazda... looks a lot like one of the more obscure 9-5 wheel styles...
but other than those 2 aspects, I can't say the car does much for me...
many of the hatches from other brands right now are large crossover things (crosstour, x6, etc)... Subaru has done well in this vacuum (as most of their cars are snow friendly sporty wagons or hatches)...
