Front subframe!!! - Frame damaged? Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Question regarding buying 1999 SE Certified Preowned, Benny, Thu, 23 May 2002 12:49:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'd get a look at the actual service order for the subframe. It could have taken a hit from a curb or something and only gotten bent enough to need replacing, or it could be a sympton of MAJOR COLLISION REPAIR. The bodywork could have been done elsewhere and the dealer replaced the subframe for the body shop - BEWARE
There is no strict provision that a car hit and fixed correctly cannot be certified. The good news is that I would much rather have a subframe replaced than body panels repainted. The subframe is just a part to unbolt and replace, painted body panels will eventually show a color variance that screams bodywork. Either way get the real truth as even a properly fixed car can be a problem down the line.
