"it just comes right off"... Posted by Snowmobile [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: loctite lesson / getting rear shocks off?!?, Snowmobile ![]() ![]() |
...after much prying + shaking the whole assembly... there's seemingly no hope if you leave 2 of the upper screws on there loose (like it says in the WIS)... I took all 4 out right from the get-go (after last time), but it is still tough... I think the most useful thing I did was take a very large screwdriver and stick it in the hole where the lower bolt came out and pry back and forth to loosen the bushing out of the recess... the second shock popped off while doing that... the first came off while forcing and shaking the assembly back and forth (but I had previously done a bunch of prying with the screwdriver)...
this step (each time I've done it on this car) is by far the hardest part of doing the rear shocks... waaaay harder than removing that upper nut... but nobody else seems to comment on this... am I crazy?
anyway, they're off! and I'm only missing the upper-most rubber bushing... probably on the highway somewhere... all the other parts were in the fender... even all the nuts! handy!
Loctite!
James...
