RADIATOR on my 2001 Aero Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
this weekend I noticed a small leak that seems to be coming from the lower radiator hose connection.
Could be the radiator. I have read here that the plastic tanks have a tendency to crack with age. I have a 2001 with 168,000 miles on it and it has been in Southern CA it whole life. Should I be worried about the radiator?
We completely rebuilt the engine about 10 months ago and put in all new hoses, thermostat and temp sensor, water pump and cap. My indy and I talked about the radiator at that time.....and I elected to pass. He was concerned that the lower hose might leak because the plastic on the radiator was brittle and he was afraid of tightening it too much.
I would like some advice on this. V-6s seem to have a lot of posts about bad radiators.....how about the 2.3?
I am going in the direction of a new radiator as they are only $164 from eEuro with free shipping and not sales tax......good deal to me. And the WIS does not make the job look too bad.
I am rationalizing that this is good insurance that I don't get stuck somewhere with a bad radiator.
Any advice?
How tough a job is it?
