One thing that 9-5 owners needs to take into consideration now when these cars are getting older is that the ACC system have some flaws that will show up more and more with age.
The whole plastic drum system slowly warps or sliding areas gets dry creating more and more friction that the motors has to overcome. Since the motors end positions are based on friction and rise of amperage when coming to a stop, those binding drums can play bad tricks on you from day to day and from calibration to calibration.
All the linkages and all the motors might work as they should but one day when the car is running its calibration, the A/C selector drum or left/right temp flap might be having a bad day and they create more drag than it did another day and the motor and ACC system think it is at its end position and logs that in its memory.
This will completely mess with the automatic system and how the different blend doors are operating.
So even if you have fixed all broken parts, you might still end up witha weird ACC system due to that it logs new end positions from day to day when it is running its own calibration.
I have starting to see this a few times where nothing is really wrong except excessive friction of the drums. Not much to do except pulling the dash and replacing A/C housing.
