We went with a Thule box. Since we were originally planning to use it mostly on our 9-5 wagon, we were concerned about clearance when opening the rear hatch. A couple of calls later, we were at a local dealer (a ski shop, no less) who was smart enough to have his guys haul the floor sample box out to our wagon so we could see how it might fit. It was fine, and we bought it on the spot.
When installed, the front of the Thule sticks out a tiny bit over the windshield - can't really see it when driving, though. The rear protrudes a bit in such a way that when we open the hatch, we always stick an old towel between the hatch glass and the box to keep it from rubbing. Works fine, and the box has endured summer trips for over 8 years without any wear.
I'd advise buying the largest box you can fit on the car... the Thule takes about 5 minutes to install/remove.
