Regarding the mid-muffler... Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Thu, 11 Oct 2012 08:35:04 In Reply to: Oil Cooler Mess - How to flush?, Mike34, Thu, 11 Oct 2012 06:22:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Rip that thing out! I had a piece of straight pipe put in my '04 Aero looking for a sportier sound and it sounds great. Just a little more throaty/burbly; nothing offensive. I drove around disappointed for three days thinking there was no difference until I drove through a parking garage with the windows down. Cost about $80, but I think they saw me coming.
The V6 is a whole different beast in that three cylinders exhaust through a turbo (which offers some noise-muffling) and three dump straight into the exhaust, so the exhaust has a bit of a weird note to begin with. I always wanted to do the center-resonator delete on my '01 V6 back in the day but I didn't have money to do things "just for fun" back then. I'm sure it would sound very nice.
Here's a video of mine after a cold start. Keep in mind a 4-cyl. though.
