Weird sound. Sounds like a stuck relay or something.
But one thing is for sure. It's not your steering wheel lock solenoid, because no 9-5's ever had those.
How old is your battery? I would suspect that killing the battery wasn't from the Winter button mishap, and more to do with the fact that maybe you had the interior lights on for an extended period of time while you were futzing with the jalousie. I'm inclined to say your battery is toast and you should replace it. It may have enough oomph to start the car after a night of charging, but may not have enough to satisfy all the electronics. They're very sensitive to even slight lack of voltage.
