Yeah. Its pretty interesting that the engine did not sustain any internal damage due to low oil pressure.
That oil pressure sensor you speak of is on the backside of the engine block. behind the starter. see?
and on the other hand:
That oil pressure warning dummy-light is kinda worth less too (in my opinion). I've seen way too many a SAAB roll into the shop with the oil level well below minimum and no other warning signs other than the valve lifters are starting to clatter.
