It's quite often the modern Saab's and Volvo's consume oil more than they ever did before but if you are going through 2q or more in less than 1200 miles it is more than normal.
Keep in mind though that the industry standard for brand new cars are still roughly 1q in 1500 miles so if you buy a new car and it consumes less oil than that, you will have an uphill battle getting any repairs done for that consumption.
If there are no major external oil leaks on your car you either have worn out piston rings or leaking turbo shaft seals.
If the turbo shaft seals are leaking that much, you most likely have a puff of smoke coming out the tail pipe when you start it in the morning or shades of smoke coming out when car is idling.
If the piston rings are causing it, it is harder to spot.
If your car would leak 2q in 1200 miles externally, you would leave a terrible mess wherever you park the car.
