those are about the same temperatures we've had the past few days... the -11F afternoon temperatures were starting to feel balmy compared to the -40 (including windchill) mornings... our battery is on at least year 3, probably 4+, so starts were a little touchy after sitting all night outdoors with no block heater... I should probably get one of those!

However, cabin temperature is always warm... defrost of the front window is awesome on the 9-5... turn that sucker on right away while the car warms up while scraping... the stuff almost melts right off... We have the car set to default to ECON mode. AUTO needlessly turns on the AC compressor in order to get the perfect temperature and we do not need that. I have the heat set for 16 (Celcius, so 60F for y'all down south) for both sides on the front. Back vents are open. I normally drive with the flow set to defrost (ie vents at the windshield) unless the windshield is clear and my hands are frozen, then in a few minutes using the forward upper vents my hands are thawed and I'm roasting and either go back to the windshield or floor. My wife prefers the heat of the 9-5 to the 1989 c900, but that thing also blasts heat... I have to keep it less than half way to avoid being in an oven...

So my advice, try it in ECON mode, manually set the ventilation directions etc, and see how it goes. I assume your engine temp is at halfway, and no issues with tstat etc... good luck!
