I had a block heater on my SAAB 9K that was threaded on the radiator ( replaced a plug ).
Then one day it started to smoke when I plugged it into the outdoor electrical outlet. Turns out the electrical wire was poorly routed near the engine and it just disintegrated. The end.
They work well when they are new.
Now a heated garage takes care of it and a car cover does wonders when no garage in sight.
Cheers!
