A lot depends on how you drive it. While 33 sounds high, it's not out of the question in my experience.
For example, over the last 9 months I have done a few trips to visit my son at college. White Plains NY to Williamsburg VA. Of the two where I took my car (2003 9-5 Arc sedan), One was with my very nervous passenger mom and the other with my 11 year old nephew. (all the rest have been in my wife's chariot)
Trip with mom I behaved. Held to or just below speed limits, especially in the 70 mph section in VA where i was closer to 65. Averaged 29 - 30, just letting the cruise do its thing. (far easier than worrying about mom putting a fingernail through the seats, and hearing about my drivin skills later).
Trip with nephew, I pushed it a bit moresame roads, similar traffic. Averaged 26 - 27.
I ignore the trip computer and just divide miles by gallons at the fill ups and have been very happy with he mileage on long cruises. I also love how silky smooth the V6 is on a road trip.
Just my experiences.....
