Spring recommendations for a wagon, please Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Thu, 17 Jul 2014 09:32:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all,
It was time to upgrade the wife's suspension (04 ARC wagon, 5 spd.) and I've ordered Koni struts and shocks and to keep the ride height and camber correct I went with GenuineSaab springs from eEuroparts on June 30. The rear springs and other parts shipped last week, but there is no ETA on the front springs (CV's) and I'm wondering what options I've got at this time. Will another OE spring give me roughly the same ride and ride height as the CV's? If so, which?
I went with the GenuineSaab springs b/c I was concerned that aftermarket springs would not work well with the extra weight of the wagon and I didn't want to change the camber of the wheels if I don't have to. Does anyone foresee any real issues if I go to the B&G springs (allegedly) designed for the extra weight of the wagon? And did it have a real world affect on the wear of the tires?
The car has 189,000 miles and has original shocks and springs on it (I know, I know). I've got new bolts and strut mounts/bearings when I replace this all. I'd like to knock all this out soon, but I don't want to put the rear springs on only to find the fronts will never come in and then have to replace the rears again in two weeks or something.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Gregg
