Gotta bring all the mechanical/safety items up to an acceptable condition . I have never had a breakdown on the highway because I replace parts that have reached their limit . No sense in buying 4 new premium snow tires and having the rears get chewed up by the worn out suspension .
Some things {like fuel pump/DIC } are kept in the back just in case .
I live in the Cascade Mountains and it is tough country , often 80 or more miles to "civilization".Little if any cell phone service. If the car was a "town" car I would let things slide ,but where I drive , you don't want to break down !
