Just a couple of items that I did not find when I searched.
1) Bottom or Top Removal? Top for sure - I had the exhaust off to drop the oil pan (pretty clean), but removal through top was still the better way.
2) What interferes? Remove the two newer style clip on PCV hoses from the back of the Oil Trap, and the route past the 2006 intake manifold is almost easy - once the nut is off the rear engine mount and the engine is jacked up a bit.
3) Alternator Bolts: Size is M10 X 1.5pitch X 80mm long (8mm hex socket head). This is the same size as the belt tensioner mounting bolt AND the tensioner bolt on my car is a class 10.9 bolt, while the alternator bolts are grade 8.8. I stripped the hex head of the lower bolt - BUT a Snap On 11/32 Easy Out for about $5.60 helped me get it out (don't drill, just tap it in as you apply torque). I have replaced the bolts with grade 12.9 zinc plated bolts from Fastenal (w anti-seize). The other option would have been two tensioner bolts to avoid stripped heads should someone need to do this job again.
I used a Bosch remanufactured alternator purchased from Rock Auto via part number and brand, not vehicle. This replacement was a preventive one done because I often don't have access to my daughters' cars to fix things only when they go bad - so I try to do the more logically grouped things when it makes sense and I have time. The alternator I took out will get new brushes/regulator and get installed in the higher mileage 2006.
