The caddy claims he was going 40-45 mph; however, that is
not consistant with the change in direction of my car.
My car's direction (based on final resting point) was 75 degress
away from the initial velocity. Similarly, his 4000 lbs caddy
was defected 15 degrees by my velocity. Assuming rigid bodies for
the car, that would imply his spead was 3.5 - 4 x my speed; however
the cars are not rigid. Much of the kenetic energy (speed) was
abosorbed by the two cars. From the picture, I would say at least
20 mph. So, using conserivative estimates, he was
traveling 3.5x my speed +20 mph. I am not sure how hast I was going.
I must have been going at least 15, probably 20-25; that puts
his speedin excess of (3.5 * 15)+20=72.5 in a 40 mph zone.
That would also explain why I did not see him.
I am not sure if that analysis is correct, though.
