Oil trap hose crud?

How much crud should be in the oil trap hoses? I replaced non-Saab ones with new Saab ones. The old oil trap hoses aren't blocked, but I can see crud or possibly deteriorating hose in there. The oil trap nipples were clear with limited crud. The PCV nipple's smaller nipple was fully blocked. The PCV valve had previously cracked so perhaps dirt was able to bind with the oil and block this small passage or it is due to these non-Saab hoses deteriorating. I checked this small nipple on my other 9-5 and it was fine. The part numbers were different, but I think one just superseded the other (PCV Nipple 55560443 versus 9192949). That small nipple seems another thing to keep an eye on and is easy to check.
The update#6 hose across the top was incorrectly routed straight down. There was some oil collected in that hose. I'm not sure if it can work properly or not the way it was installed. Or possibly oil just collected at the lowest point. I'm suspicious that the oil pressure sensor was not bad and this PCV mess was more of the reason I've got oil leaks.
