Must admit that I haven't seen much of this behavior from my car over the years. That said, for the life of the car to date, my office was located in northern NJ near a plethora of fuel options and I would run it on the cheapest high-test I could find, usually BP or (occasionally) Pilot. May just have been their formulations.
We've since moved offices, and my convenient NJ-priced fueling option is limited to an ExxonMobil. I will have to pay attention and see if things go any differently. So far, no issue, with a couple of upper 50's mornings lately, and a turning of 245K the other day.
We shall see.
