Hello Crawdad ..... your comment that "some manufacturers were expanding the response of the sensors but they're not truly wideband? doesn't seem to make much sense to me. A "wideband" O2 Sensor does not mean that it has an expanded response. The traditional O2 Sensor, called a Switching Sensor (or a 2 Point Sensor), will tell your ECU if the Air/Fuel Ratio is RICH or LEAN. The newer O2 Sensors, called wideband sensors (or Universal Sensors), will tell your ECU how rich or how lean the A/F mixture is. Since they are double the price, the wideband sensors (when used) are only used in the pre-Catalyst position (not post-Cat). Since the signals and connectors are completely different, they are not interchangeable.
