Below are photos of my two false attempts and final successful (hopefully!) acquisition of a replacement ATF Fill Plug for my '08 Aero.
The plug on the right was my first purchase. Ordered from a SAAB parts supplier, it is too large to fit in the fluid fill hole of the automatic transmission. After this plug failed to fit I measured the original plug using a draftsman's circle template and 'thought' it was a M17 size.
The plug on the left was my second attempt. I scoured the 'net for months looking for an M17x1.5 plug at an affordable price - including shipping. A set of 5 of these, with shipping from Wales to Michigan, was only $11. Great! It was too small.
The center plug was picked up today from the local Grainger warehouse. It is a M18x1.5 size and came with a O-ring gasket. Price was $6.95 before tax and with local pick-up.
