Rookie mistake, I fixed it......(long)

First Saab brake job, mistakes happen....
Found out there are two ways to install the pad retaining spring on the outboard side of the rotor. Hard to describe without pix, but the first time I put the retaining springs on, they looked fine, fit fine, etc. but were actually causing the caliper to spring back open between brake actuations.
Took a look at my 9-3 and realized I that I had it wrong. Quick switch to the correct spring install and the brakes work like a charm.
BTW, I also tried rasping the top of the new pads to a 45 degree angle to ease the break-in to the ridge at the OD of the rotor. I can't speak to the effectiveness 'cause the springs had such a big effect, but I think I'll try that from now on with old rotors.
Thanks all for the advice
