P0455, EVAP Shut-Off valve, & Charcoal canister on 2006-09's Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Tue, 11 Dec 2018 07:51:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Background: One of the two 2006 9-5 SC's I maintain has had a persistent P0455 for a while. I only have access to the car periodically, so my troubleshooting cycle time is rather long. I suspect that there is damage or poor connector seal at the EVAP shut-off valve or the charcoal EVAP canister (at the tank on the 2006-2009 US market cars).
I've confirmed that the EVAP solenoid valve under the hood and the connection to the TB are good. Although the original gas cap had cracking in the seal, a new cap did not fix the issue. Because conditions for the EVAP test are not met at every start, I only get the bad news when the car is not accessible to me.
Question: Will I be able to inspect, confirm connections, and replace the shut-off valve or the charcoal canister by carefully lowering the tank part-way (more on the right hand side)? Or will I need to remove the tank fully to inspect and fix anything wrong with these components for the '06-'09 cars ?
I am talking about components #7, #3, and #12 in this diagram

Thanks for your feedback.
