Re: P0455, EVAP Shut-Off valve, & Charcoal canister on 2006-09's Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Wed, 12 Dec 2018 19:30:42 In Reply to: Re: P0455, EVAP Shut-Off valve, & Charcoal canister on 2006-09's, SWEDECAR [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 11 Dec 2018 08:32:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks for your reply, Swedecar.
Now I will make my confession: I am preparing to troubleshoot the Evap line back to the tank, the Evap vent (shut off) valve, and the charcoal canister because a brand new OE Evap purge valve and hose under the hood did not prevent P0455 from returning.
I did the not-so-smart thing and "threw a part at it", because a PO or their mechanic had "patched" the purge valve hose connection at the TB, and even after re-sealing I didn't trust that it was not the intermittent cause for the P0455 code.
Now I am trying to plan out my strategy for diagnosis and repair in the limited time I will have the car available to me this weekend. I would like to test the vent valve function and the carbon canister integrity, but I am not confident I can access these well enough with out dropping the tank - and I don't have a TechII. Thus the question about a "partly lowered on one side" tank rather than full removal. The more I think about this the more I suspect it may come to a full tank drop - in which case it won't happen until Spring comes to my unheated garage.
Thanks,
Mark in Marine
