If the rear seat in the 5-er is smaller, it is because the 5 is a rear driver, as are all luxury class vehicles (think of the moribund Acura RL, avoided in droves). Parked side-by-side, the 5 is larger and manifests a greater road presence.

My 9^5 is a wagon, and though it has a door-mounted unlock button, what I referred to was a membrane touch switch on the trunk lid itself. If the car is unlocked, touch the switch - trunk opens.

The only non-automated item in the climate control is the A/C switch, the use of which I've been able to master. The system is simpler and easier to use than that in the 9^5, and there exists the option to separately adjust the temperature of the upper dash vent output, along with auto recirc when airborne particulates are detected.

When was the last time there was 0% financing on BMW? Report back when both vehicles of the same vintage are 10 years old, and see which one has retained more of its value - this is the true test.

Bottom line: I still love the Saab for what it is because it's a great car!
