Our 2002 SAAB as shown in subject was damaged in an accident about a month ago. Pass door needs replacement, and passenger back door is repairable.
Except for the damage, it is in good condition and we recently spent abut $1200 as a DIY to rebuild the cylinder head (it had a burnt valve, apparently due to an injector that was not working as it should, likely leaning out that cylinder) It has about 170K on it.
We are looking for comparable vehicles either bought or sold by 9-5 Saabnet members
We are in a situation where an insurance company (the other driver’s insurance) has accepted responsibility but is wanting to total the car. It has about $2100 in damage to fix according to the body shop. And this value represents $54 over the 70% value of the care (suggests a fair market value of just over $2900.
If we can show that it might have value typically more that what the insurance company is saying, we may be able to get the car fixed. If totaled it becomes a salvage title which we do not want.
If you can provide information on year, model (AERO wagon preferred, but Sedan would work as well) and what it was bought or sold for in the last 6 months this would be great. Any other additional information might be helpful as well; a picture may be good. Email could be sent to jaznm@comcast.net.
Thanks for any help that can be offered. I will also check the Saabnet classifieds for cars sold which may be comparable.
Thanks, Jeff Zirzow, in NM
