I'm torn between two cars.
Car 1
2007 9-5 Aero auto wagon 142,000 miles $3500
Full maintenance history, guy seems to have been fanatical about upkeep. Full engine rebuild in 2016 by a Saab master tech, new motor mounts, brakes, linkages, etc. $9000 invoice for all of this. A/C compressor, full exhaust replacement, shocks and springs in 2018. Fuel sender also recently replaced. Body in excellent shape, just a small bubble at the bottom of a wheel arch, the typical scratches.
Issues: oil pressure light comes on when idling, goes away under load - diagnosed as a sensor problem; I would make fixing this a sale condition. I feel a vibration through the steering wheel when stopped in D; not there when moving or in P. Owner says it's always been there; this is my only concern with the car. Side mirror glass both sides getting dark, rear door locks intermittent.
Car 2
2008 9-5 Aero auto wagon 91,000 miles $4800
From used car lot, no history available. Some rust on the bottoms of the wheel arches (previously treated, but not painted, some rust on the top of one wheel arch, a previous rust repair on the front right wheel arch that wasn't finished very professionally; price includes having these spots fixed professionally, or I have the option of passing on that and knocking $780 off the price. Other minor issues include side mirror housing falling off, driver seat module cover fallen off, license plate holder falling off, exhaust leak, all to be fixed prior to pick up. Obviously what concerns me with this car is the lack of history, as it's at a mileage where some big repairs could be coming up (I read fuel sender and motor mounts are what go around this mileage, not a matter of if but when and I have no idea if they've been done). The low mileage is nice, but on the other hand maybe they're all city miles. I wish cars also had a run time indicator. Bonus on this car is it comes with factory roof bars and a trailer hitch, both things I would add otherwise.
Any opinions appreciated.
