and I was extrememly satisfied.
Four of us plus about 200 lbs of luggage, 75 mph on I-80/90 getting there, averaged 31 mpg. Need to do 90 to pass, no problem. Driving around the mountains once there, still got 27 mpg or so.
The only place where the car was lacking was some engine braking on downgrades. If the 5A could have held 2nd gear, I would have no complaints. It would sometimes stay in 2nd for awhile when I put it in L, other times it went right into 1st (which was too low for some grades). If I drove those type of roads regularly, the manual would be better choice.
I think the the Linear will do well, but I have some reservation about taking a brand new engine on the same trip I did. Mine had 2,900 miles to start. You'll find differing opinions on this board regarding engine break-in.
Enjoy the trip. Enjoy the new car.

p.s.
The deer flys can be brutal. We bought some repellent that said it would work on biting flies, and it pretty much did. We also would take a bandana to place over head to drape across back of neck, and place cap over to hold in place. You have to have hats, unless you're only on mountain tops, where they didn't bother us.
Feel free to email me with any questions.
