> Should I replace the brake booster and master cylinder??
Do you mean as preventative maintenance or to improve braking performance?
I don't feel that the brakes are terrible (though I may have my perceptions skewed) I'll be interested to hear what others say about that.
I have to ask, are you sure that the brake anti-rattle spring is installed and installed properly? I know that if that spring is improperly installed or missing it will cause reduced performance and a spongy feel.
FWIW from a maintenance perspective: in the 4 cars that I currently own (all with over 180k mi now) 1 needed a brake booster( and that was at ~208k mi). None have yet required a replacement caliper. None have required brake lines. The rotor and pad life has been phenomenal (>150k). I've used Zimmerman and Brembo rotors and as I replace them I am switching to Centrix rotors. I use Akebono ceramic pads and like them a lot. In regards to the akebono I'm choosing low dust over top of the line brake performance. I understand that many do not like ceramic in general and Akebonos in particular, but are the right choice for me, so far anyway.
I think that if you are looking for stellar brake performance you might prefer semi-metalic like the EBC pads.
The Zimmerman rotors were long lasting and well made but IMHO not worth the price premium. Brembos are more reasonably priced but I feel the quality is slipping from the old days. So as the rotors age out Im switching to Centrix and I'm happy so far.
