Not sure of how the "grace period" works. I think it is
state by state. What I was told is that USAA will forgive the
first accident whee it pays out in a 6 year period provided
you have a clean driving record for the six years.
USAA does not have me down for any ratings. I have been told,
but have not seen in writing, that the only premium increase
I can expect is from the ticket (if convicted).
I will believe it when I see the bill. Note that if I have a second
accident, then the rate go trough the roof, as I would have two at-fault
accidents, and have to pay for both.
Other things helping me is my wife is the primary driver on the
expensive car (was saab, now toyota minivan). I am the primary driver
of the 13 yo Integra (motto...it runs and its paid for). Since the
higher rating is based on the driver...you get the picture.
USAA seems tpo be a great company. I would be glad to give more info,
but not on line.
