A/C leak, help advice. Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Mon, 27 Jul 2020 09:28:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think I cursed myself a few months ago when I suggested that my cars have been remarkably reliable. Soon after that the transmission in one failed, the engine in another blew a piston, and 2 AC systems started to leak.
(as an offering we acquired a "rescue saab" with a knocking engine ... working on that one now. I hope this will appease the saab gods! )
Anyway the current issue is an A/C leak. I did take the car to the neighborhood mechanic. He charged me a lot of money and kept the car for a long time and it still leaks. So I want to do this myself ...
Any advice on techniques or tools? I've seen UV dyes and UV lights on amazon. Are they effective? Is there a better way to track down the leak? what do the pro's do?
non-functioning A/C is simply a non-starter here in eastern NC. It's brutal out there.
