Greetings, 03 Saab 95 linear, 213K miles, manual.
Right side oil leak onto subframe. The drip is becoming noticeable after most drives. Suprisingly oil doesnt go down too fast. But I don't think I can live with the leak anymore. Not oil seals. Indy said it's the head / timing cover area. He said need to do head gasket. He said its not worth it to fix. But I cant afford another car. I cant afford his fix.
Im having to cheap out, as I am a Scientist fighting w/ others for humanity (bit.ly/MercyLetterForParentsV13). Fired for being honest.
Options
a) JB Weld Hack. Can someone tell me if I can do this in my driveway? Can you give me exact instructions? I understand (once I clean the area), I put JB Weld on the seam of the
b) DIY Head Bolts. I could torque them or replace them? What are the chances of a fix with this alone?
c) DIY Head Gasket. I don't know about timing chains and don't think I want to learn about timing guides. I've done things like the starter, alternator on this car. The studs on the front (intake) were kind of stripped - probably want to leave everything in the car. Can I do this, how long? What are the main gotchas? Do I need need to drain coolant and oil (which means I need to buy more stuff). Am I wasting my time if I open it up and dont do timing chain?
Please let me know your thoughts on a,b,c?
Appreciate all feedback.
