Glad you got it sorted out!
Just for curiosity, take a look at your old stepper motor. You’ll see that it’s made up of two parts. The one with the spindle that goes into the arm is actually a gearbox that is actuated by a small gear on the motor proper (the other part of the assembly with the electrical connection). A couple screw let you separate the two.
When you separate them, look at the small gear on the thin spindle coming out of the motor. The end of the spindle should be flush with the outer edge of the gear. Over time the gear may have walked out the spindle such that it no longer engaged the gear box.
Press the gear back into place on the spindle and reassemble the two halves. You now very likely have a good spare stepper motor.
