We have three 9-5s with manual transmissions and I never thought the clutches were unusual. Of course, I’ve been driving Saabs exclusively for 45 years so that might prejudice my opinion. On the other hand, we also have a NG9-3 with a six-speed transmission and I don’t really notice much difference form the 9-5s, as far as the clutch is concerned, and that car is more GM. The shift feel is somewhat different on the NG9-3 with a cable connection to the transmission as opposed to the shift rods all my other Saab used. But I don’t have problems going back and forth between the 9-3 and 9-5s. The one automatic 9-5 I rarely drive does have me stamping my left foot for a moment but I soon get the hang of it.
