Easiest o2 sensor change ever! Posted by Snowmobile [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Just did both o2 sensors and cps in our 05. I was seriously dreading changing out o2 sensors from my experience attempting to do so in our c900s* (we live in the salt belt, see below)... The upper on was a piece of cake and the lower was so loose I just unscrewed it with my fingers. CPS OTOH was a bear. The bolt that is nearly impossible to see was seized on of course. In the end I got it from below with a t30 on a ratchet with my son reaching down from above to push the socket against the bolt. These two jobs are good to do together as removing the o2 sensors frees up space and they all plug in the same area anyway.
Looks like we were probably having cps issues because it was hard to start the car prior (even in summer) and now it is instantaneous. We haven't had any CELs or no starts when hot yet. This was meant to be proactive/preventative maintenance but probably could have been done a year ago or more in retrospect! Probably these should be changed on an interval...
* Nothing will take out a c900 o2 sensor up here it seems! I've used sprays, torches, huge breaker bars, every trick in the book, including removing the downpipe, putting it in a vice, and cranking on it with a 4' 1" thick 3/4 drive solid breaker bar... in the end I just started buying a new down pipe with each o2 sensor. Way easier and money well spent haha.
