I wonder if antiseize lubricant would help in your situation? Permatex says their copper antiseize is good for oxygen sensors. Some oxygen sensor for some cars come with antiseize on the threads or in a packet. I am well aware of the importance of keeping it well away from the sensor itself, but it does seem to be a practice in the industry to use antiseize lubricant on oxygen sensor threads. The lubricant will probably vaporize fairly quickly under those temperatures, but that would still leave a layer of the metal powder.
For a seemingly simple job, the CPS on the 9-5 can cause no end of frustration That reminds me that they are due for a change on my cars.
