I've had two Saabs, and recently bought my third. This time I test drove several other vehicles, including the RX300. It is quite a package. I came close to ordering the charcoal gray Coach special edition. Then I test drove an Aero.... the rest is history. To add two observations to those above:
The back seat of a Saab is a REAL back seat, with the added bonus of being a fold-down. The RX300, and several other small SUV type vehicles I looked at have very flat, uncomfortable back seats. The kids have to be comfortable! And it's heated too...
The handling of the RX300 doesn't even begin to come close to the Saab. I felt like I was going to roll the Lexus over. It was point-and-drive, very smooth, but just no fun at all. The Saab has personality, and is a whole lot more fun to drive!
Good Luck
