Don, I suspect you'll get a lot of people disagreeing with you on this one - self included :-) The Saab seats are the most comfortable I have in a very wide range of cars over my driving lifetime. We have frequently done 900+ mile trips to the South of France, with only stops for fuel. Typically I'm the driver for the whole period, in at least one of the directions - I get out feeling tired, but with no back pain or other physical discomforts. Those trips were in my previous 9-5's (non Aero), and I can't imagine much has changed. I now own an Aero with leather, and once more the seats are incredibly supportive. The Aero seats are different though - and I grant that you might be an odd shape (no offence intended) that perhaps falls into a more diverse quartile.
In your specific case, perhaps it is worth looking to see if you can get a set of seats from a wrecked car - though with all the airbags and trickery, it still isn't going to be a cheap option to have them fitted. (Assuming they haven't activated).
I don't know what else to suggest, other than change the thread title - the seats most definitely are not awful - just that *you* don't find them comfortable. I bet there are plenty here that will chime in with similar experiences to mine :-)
