Oh, flashlights, visors, tire gauges, and such are not too big a deal in my book, unlike things other manufacturers have been doing. Honda, for instance, figured that Americans don't really pay attention to the size/alignment of the seams/gaps of the body panels, so they've increased the tolerances (greatly) on those things. Also, their paint is thinner than it used to be. Shame, shame, Honda!

I can't imagine that SAAB would cheapen the seat belt latches so as to compromise safety, but who knows... Lots of things broke on my '88 9000T, but the only item I was *really* upset about was a failed driver's seatbelt latch. The red LEDs in the latches were pretty neat looking, though.

The seats I can't comment on, because I have an Aero and I think its seats are different (yes?)... But I imagine Saab would have to de-content a few items in order to pay for items like OnStar (in order to keep the MSRP approximately the same). BTW, with the OnStar, I was pleased to find out that we get a free year of "Safe & Sound" PLUS "Directions & Connections"! Other makes only get a free year of "Safe & Sound".

I, too, would like to know more about decontenting of the '02 versus the '99.

Overall, I think we gained more than we lost--electronic stability program, OnStar, radar in reverse, more HP, and oh yeah, the 1,000+ changes that SAAB says they made for 2002. I just bought some SAAB memorabilia on eBay, including the '02 press kit; I think it will have more information on the '02 upgrades. I'll put the press kit online when I receive it.

The 2002 dealer brochures are somewhat sparse, compared to what SAAB used to publish for the 9000 series. Now _those_ brochures were amazing!
