there would be an advantage to a manumatic.
My 1998 Prelude had the sequential shift. Honda is rather unique (or at least was) in that it wouldn't upshift automatically in this mode. It would hit rev-limiter instead. If you're holding a line on a curve (on a track) and don't want an upshift to screw you up, you're OK. On the Prelude I used it when aggressive (under control) driving in traffic, to downshift prior to making move. But, the SAAB 5A in sport mode shifts much faster than my Prelude, always ready for the right gear.
I was very dissatisfied with the sequential shift, as my previous car was 1991 Prelude with manual. I couldn't find used manual, tried the auto, but it only lasted a little over a year. Thought that next car would be manual, but the SAAB 5A won me over, and it should keep me happy for many years.
p.s.
It you're (i.e., anybody reading this) going to be on a track, you're going to be driving a manual.
