Emissions/mileage require all kinds of black boxes, which are sealed and can't be fixed, just replaced. Customers require power everything, automatic everything and leather everything (well almost). YOu need a special computer with the right hardware/software to diagnose anything. Hell, you even need to put the car up on ramps to change the fuggin air filter!

Forget about DIY on any modern car. We are almost being forced into leasing so we keep getting warranties! And as these cars age and the electronics and little motors start to get funky and parts get harder to find, they will end up in the crusher sooner and sooner.
