Not true.
I bring my own parts all the time to the dealer and they put it on no problem. My dealer is also a Porsche/Audi/VW dealer, so they're used to customers bringing go fast parts and such for their cars. Just recently, I had the dealer put on aftermarket front rotors (ATE Powerdiscs) on my '94 SET-they can't offer the SAAB limited warranty on it, but that's not a big issue-the car's out of warranty. Last year, I brought a brand new old stock A/C compressor I bought off ebay from a closed dealer for $150 (retails over $700 from dealer)-they put that in for me, too.
I'd prefer to go to an indy for this car, but where I live, there "ain't no indies." Heck, the next nearest dealer is over 200 miles away. most people don't even know what a SAAB is here...ugh.
My '01 9-5 LPT wagon is almost a year old and under warranty-I don't worry about it. :-)
