You will not see this on the Taliaferro chart--rather you'd have to get this tid bit from the SI bulletins. NGK BCPR6ES plugs on the 2.3 LPT.
The reason for the 6 heat range was for the customer who started his/her vehicle in the winter cold and went back inside for a cup of coffee, then drove it 2 miles. This came out in the 1999 9/5 cars--that originally spec'd the NGK BCPR7ES11 plug.
Other 9-5 owners complained of long engine cranking times on start-up. The prescribed fix again was the BCPR6ES plug.
The recommended gap on the plug was 0.039", and torque to 20 ft.lbs. This is from SAAB, the COMPANY --not an individual poster's opinion. Works !!!
I think 0.037-0.039" will make no difference to most users on these plugs. Avoid the 1.1 mm (0.043") factory gap.
Now you will have read 0.035" gaps, and ask TG what about this ? The 0.035"gap was created for the precious metal NGK plug.
As for the choice of plug pursuant to DI life--YES ! Always use NGK PLUGS ! Not splitfires, nor Bosch Platinums nor "miracle" advertised plugs.
The choice of NGK BCPR6ES or BCPR7ES or the precious metal PFR7H10 will not increase or decrease the DI life.
Keeping your plugs changed regularly (if you do not perform your own maintenance) or checking/regapping the copper plugs @ 12-15,000 mile intervals will .
