Before I got the EBC Greens for my '02 Aero, my morning ritual was to use one of my car towels (recognizable, because they are of higher quality than my home towels - ie, truly 100% cotton) to wash the windshield (Stoner's Invisible Glass) - than use the damp towel to clean the wheels. Meguire's detailer works well for dusty wheels as well. The weekend wash rutual is a wet one with both inside and outside wheel cleaning - I too ditched the OEM wheels for 17x8 5-spoke Borbets.
By the way, separate towels for the garage is not as goofy as it sounds. About ten years ago, I bought 15 black towels on closeout for $3.99/each (Cannon Royal Family). They are used on the cars only - progressively going from light duty (windshields or drying) to medium duty (waxing) to heavy duty (wheels) then into a dedicated hamper. I wash them when the hamper is full with detergent and bleach. Its great - they are all still in service. My family thinks I am crazy - but, after all, I am am an absent-minded professor - so being a tad nuts is just part of the costume. But, you know, saturday mornings, when folks stop by my house for washes/oil changes, etc., everyone is psyched at the large supply of clean detailing towels - plus, NO PAPER WASTE!
Good luck,
eric
