Saab has never been a high-profit, high-volume company. Now that they are being pushed by GM to compete in every world market, they are not going to look so good. It's one thing to do well in your home market, another to try and compete with the Japanese and European imports in the US. It's easy to have a niche and an image and do well just in that area, but to go up against Audi, BMW and Merc ain't easy. But the company's not going anywhere.
Plus don't forget, in automotive terms the 9-5 is a dinosaur. It's long overdue for a makeover, just like the 9-3 was, so big incentives to move the metal isn't a surprise.
